J’aime bien George Brassens, et j’aime aussi ce point de vue! Je pratique ca souvent ;)
George Brassens was another high school discovery, along with Piaf, Jacques Brel, François Villon, and many others. There was an incredible eclecticism to people’s music tastes, and I still appreciate the exposure to this day.

that ^ is what my tumblr archive looks like at present

I had amassed too many items in my queue and drafts, it was becoming rather unwieldy. I wanted to me délester de ses contenus - to relieve myself of its contents. And so, I decided that I would make it a challenge, to blog them according to colour, forcing my mind to see how it would be inspired as a certain image came up. And it has. I’ve almost cleared the nooks and crannies, I’m feeling lighter already, but this little tumblr anthropophage has more to spit out yet.

It was also a feeling of needing to rebel against the appropriation of once-coloured photos, reblogged as somehow artsier black and whites. Seriously. It’s been done. Let’s move on. Leave colour alone. Stop stripping my pictures. So here’s a bit of colour to brighten up the place… enjoy.

As a little girl, I used to envy my school mates that had bits of shells and corals as remnants of their vacations.

A contradiction in terms - ‘liking’ abuse
As I have been thinking a lot lately about the odd nature of sexual abuse perpetrated on children, an article that I was reading about child soldiers drew an interesting parallel for me. As a child, it is hard to understand that a sensation can feel both good or exciting and bad all at once. That sexual stimulation is … stimulating, however, it can also be unpleasant and have lasting, harmful effects. I struggled for years with guilt regarding feelings of sexual arousal or enjoyment, feeling that somehow it enabled abuse to take place. It didn’t. Sexual abuse is always wrong, regardless of how the child feels or appears to feel. I didn’t ‘like’ my abuse, though, despite myself, I did like some of the sensations.
And so this article about child soldiers having a difficult time reintegrating into society because they grew to enjoy inflicting violence spoke to my experiences. How utterly sad and depraved, to have stripped these children of a childhood, and a healthy, normal development. And yet, part of me can empathise with an enjoyment of something that is so clearly wrong. We adapt. We take care of ourselves. Nothing in life is ever starkly defined.

It is an astounding contradiction to come to terms with - most child soldiers are traumatised victims and vicious perpetrators at the same time.
“We realised that those who had fun being violent suffer less from post-traumatic stress but are more difficult to integrate into society, because they are ready to become violent again,” says Hermenau.
Based on more than 200 interviews, the researchers found that a shockingly low number of former soldiers - 25 percent - experience post-traumatic stress disorder. This means three out of four continue to link positive emotions to violence.

recueillir:

According to the NME, Azealia Banks is the coolest person in music this year.

This is big news, as it’s the first time a POC has won the title - Kanye was once #3 and Janelle was #2 last year (FYI: as for women and the LGBTQ community, Beth Ditto won a while back).

I’ve avoided the NME since my 12th birthday (understandably…) but I really have to agree with them on this one. It’s just a shame it’s inevitable that next year the winner will be some middleclass white dude who plays guitar in a below-average hyped-up indie band.

Alas, fingers crossed the ever-flaky NME continue to support real fucking talent in the shape of Miss Azealia Banks.

A well deserved win, if I do say so myself.

I *love* her! And yes, the doubts about NME continuing to support anything other than mainstream-indie-acceptable are well founded.

Kiss me deadly
Well, deadly might be overkill. I’d like to keep you around to be able to kiss again, without things getting weird/illegal.
I’d prefer to save my get out of jail card for something else, and enjoy your warm body.
